FALL TRAVEL DESTINATION: London
London calling. Or rather, London is calling me. With the city’s moody skies and signature chill, Londoners are known for their ability to wrap up in signature style, and so they are a constant inspiration for cold weather outfits. London has the edge, and makes me think of Gwyneth Paltrow and Keira Knightley’s fashion-forward mindsets. When I think London, I think black booties and leather (a little moto chic, a little street punk), some silver-edged glitz, and moody color, like a dark plum-colored lip. Mix in a camo-style skinny and a classic plaid to complete my London-inspired look.
1. Sass & Bide Nobody’s Joker Foil-Print Turtleneck Sweater: The silver foil print on Sass & Bide’s gray cotton turtleneck is artfully designed to fade and crack with wear. We love how the curved hem creates a slimming effect – mirror the runway styling with a graphic mini skirt.
2. Sophie Hulme Zip Top Bowling Bag: Straight-forward and unfussy, this straight-lined bowling bag has simple lines. Perfect for travel, this go-anywhere bag is edged up with metallic plates at each handle.
3. Karen Walker Siouxsie Filigree Sunglasses: Classic cateyes. In basic black, this Karen Walker frame is anything but basic. The retro shape and fancy filagree design make them celeb-worthy.
4. Michael Kors Pressley Watch: Must-have timepiece. I love, love my gold oversized watch, but I’m willing to trade it in for this silver one for a time. I love the way silver and gray pieces complement each other.
5. Vita Fede Mini Luciano Bracelet: Definitely punk-inspired. This style-from-the-streets piece has hard lines and is finished on each end with a pointy stud. Add a dash of daring to any oufit, from work to weekend.
6. NARS Lipstick Fast Ride: When I think of London, I think of moody skies. I think a dark lip invites the same feeling. Go for drama with deep reds and plummy plums for Fall 2013.
7. Sigerson Morrison Accent Booties: There might be a little American in the cowboy boot lines of these booties, but there’s also plenty of London. With pointy toes, black leather, and silver studding, they are definitely more “across the pond” than “across the prairie.”
8. J Brand Grayson Skinny Cargo Jeans: Skinnies and cargos unite! A punky, moto vibe is the result. Pair this very masculine vibe with shine, like the sweater above, for a perfect balance of masculine and feminine.
9. Diane von Furstenberg Chain Link Quilted Leather iPad Mini Case: Style is in the details. I’m changing out my cheerful, colorful summertime iPad case for something a bit more studious. I love the quilting and the gold chain detail…reminds me of a classic Chanel chain-strap purse!
10. Rails Plaid Button Down: You can’t go wrong with a classic. Whether you wear your Rails button down with a simple pair of jeans and riding boots or try it London-style all layered up with leather and shine, you’ll never be sorry you invested in a Rails.
