The Best Doc Marten Dupes (2024 Edition!)
I picked up a pair of Doc Martens a few years ago, and my other shoes have suffered some severe neglect.
These shoes pair well with just about anything - I pair them with jeans and a hoodie or a summery floral dress that still seems easy and casual when paired with my Doc Martens. I've even spiced them up with bright yellow laces that open the compliment floodgates.
The downside to Dr. Martens boots? They are pretty expensive. I'd love to pick up a pair in every color and style, but I also need to pay for groceries and gasoline.
Why Are Doc Martens So Popular?
The timeless Doc Martens style is like that little black dress. It pairs well with anything, it's built for just about any occasion, and they are incredibly flattering. Just like Chuck Taylors, I can't imagine a time where Doc Martens wasn't at least a little in style.
Style aside, these boots are incredibly comfortable and well made. I wore them to a theme park where I was on my feet for 12 hours, and while my friends were complaining about their tired feet, mine felt perfectly fine!
The cushioned AirWave soles are molded to the shape of your feet over time and provide excellent cushioning when standing on your feet all day.
Breaking In Doc Martens
Wearing a new pair of Doc Martens is like going on a first date. They're impossibly stiff, and you may wonder what everyone sees in these shoes (or boots).
However, the more that you wear, the more comfortable they become. It takes anywhere between 3-6 weeks to break in your Doc Martens fully, and once you hit that 6-week mark, your other shoes are likely collecting dust.
It's also important to note that these shoes aren't available in half sizes. I highly suggest heading to a shoe store to try them on if you have the opportunity.
If you can't make it to a shoe store, it's better to size a half size down rather than up since they tend to run a little large.
