A Simple Choice

This morning as I was getting ready, I was browsing the internet and discovered an article on how your attitude is actually more relevant than your IQ in predicting your success. The comparison is between a fixed and growth mindset, where the former believes you cannot change what happens to you and the latter believes you have a say in the outcome of your actions. This got me thinking about how important attitude is in daily life too.

At the end of the day, I can honestly say that your happiness is up to you! If you view the world with understanding, patience, and optimism, then that’s what you’ll receive back from it. Nothing is more sad than watching someone beat themselves up over something insignificant or unavoidable – unnecessary stress is not only draining but aging!! And of course we all get the blues every once in a while, but it’s how you frame failures and successes that defines your attitude. Once you realize that you are the crucial factor in whether or not you have a good day, it’s hard to turn back. There is a quote from author Glennon Melton that really underlines the importance of a positive outlook: “A good day is a good day. A bad day is a good story. At the end of the day, it’s all good.” Maybe it’s just me, but I’m okay with fighting to choose the good over the bad.

It’s not all peaches and cream to be an optimist, though! It can be hard work and trying at times, which is why it’s extra important to learn how to let go and be flexible (mentally, but being flexible physically wouldn’t be a bad thing either haha). Maybe it’s the cool breeze and warm sun, but during the spring and summer I feel more easygoing than ever. I’m still dreaming of this wonderful escape to the beach last weekend, much needed! It probably helps that warmer weather means my clothes are lighter, shorter, and brighter. A great outfit can’t do anything but improve a positive attitude anyways!!

Outfit Details: I tucked this Topshop white camisole into an A-line skirt (similar style here) for a breezy, yet put-together outfit. Matching the look with neutral accessories, I wanted pieces that were simple, but not boring. Take a look at this pendant from Kendra Scott to see a glimmer of subtle crystals, or these glasses from Westward Leaning for a small punch of color. This look can be dressed up or down with ease, as the camisole features a lovely double V in the back and my heeled Splendid sandals (love them, and according to this reaction to my Instagram photo alot of people do!!) are just as versatile as every other piece.

Have a positive and uplifting day everyone!blue-white-skirtBlue-skirt-white-topblue-skirt-legs-close
